The new look BJP
The British Journal of Photography relaunched last week with an extensive redesign. It's much improved but does it rise to the editor's own challenge of becoming a beautiful photographic magazine? The relaunch issue is the BJP's 7,774th edition – the magazine started as a monthly title in 1854, changing to a weekly in 1864. 146 years later it reverts to its original monthly format. One reason given for the recent change is that its readers are apparently now more likely to seek out news stories on bjp-online.com, while longer features and analysis still find a more favourable home in print. ...

iGlass mate? That'll be extra
Initially, we were a tad sceptical about the usability of the iPad. Then we saw Apple's first ad for it and realised that you simply need to place a sheet of glass in between your lap and the device. Easy... Leaving aside the strangely perfect hand models, the ludicrously fast screen loading times, the ad lacks a basic appreciation of the laws of physics. Watch as the iPad is spun, seemingly without wobble though there's a teeny-tiny one at 0.15 ; gaze as our Apple user types freely onto the device, causing it to move not one inch. Marvel at ...
Bum Rap
If you are offended by the use of bad language and the sight of near naked bottoms being shaken for all they are worth, then don't read any further: the video for track Do It Again by Galactic featuring Cheeky Blakk, directed by Joey Garfileld of Ghost Robot in New York happens to feature both of the above... However, that's not to say it's not good - and funny to boot y . The basic premise is that various butts belonging to both men and women who know how to shake what their mamas gave them are costumed up to ...
A great example of moodboards in action
At Headscape we have been using moodboards for some time as part of our design process. We believe that working with moodboards is considerably more effective than producing multiple design concepts. They have the advantage of being quick and easy to produce. This means that, unlike design concepts, they are disposable. You can try lots of different approaches to find the one that works for both you and the client. However, as I said in my post ‘How Moodboards Can Save Time, Money And Your Sanity!‘ they can be tricky to produce. Inexperienced web designers can often overwork moodboards making ...
